The mathematical skill students will learn from this lesson is how to write a linear inequality. All students will understand that the equation of a line can be found by looking at the border on a graph showing some points that are solutions and some points that are not solutions of a problem. Once students can identify the border, students can write the equation in slope-intercept form. From here, students choose the inequality symbol that corresponds to the problem, depending on the graph. Student will understand why the solutions to an inequality are either on the lower half-plane or the upper half plane in order for them to make the correct choice about the inequality symbol. A second mathematical skill students acquire through this activity is the ability to combine two inequality graphs and understand the solution to a system of inequalities.
